Niners vs. Rams- Gold Rush Gossip

The Sword of Glass- Intro

I’m sure you’ve already gathered this, but I’m a novelist, despite not being published yet. I figured it’s time to start getting my work into the world, and so I’m putting my favorite novel out in bits and pieces. Now, you’re probably looking at the title and trying to decipher it. I could just let you question it until my first installment, but I’m too nice to do that.

I have always loved the story of Cinderella. The ball and prince felt magical, and the fairy godmother was a fun add in. But my favorite part about the entire tale was the glass slippers. Every time I watched Ella put them on, I would internally (and sometimes out loud) sigh and wish I was in her place. Going to a ball, dancing the night away with a handsome prince, that was every girl’s dream. But when I got older, I rewatched it and realized that the prince’s relationship with Ella was way too rushed. I know that falling in love at first sight is real, but this felt too fast.

So about six months ago, I was lounging on my couch, with Ever After: A Cinderella Story on the TV, and I watched Danielle and her friend Gustave play in the beginning. Then I thought, “What if Danielle never fell in love with the prince, but fell in love with a childhood best friend instead?” Suddenly, I paused the show, ran to my room, and grabbed my writing notebook, which was literally falling apart from use. Going back to my couch, I watched Ever After all the way through, making notes and jotting down ideas.

You can probably imagine what happened next. I started the first draft of The Sword of Glass, and I loved it way more than any of my other books.

Now, I wanted to tell you about what I did to my favorite element in the book. The slippers turn into a sword at midnight. That’s all I’m saying, and so if you want to hear the story of Clarissa Whitlock, and Jayden Davenport- who is not the prince, by the way- keep and eye out for my first installment!

Till my pen meets the paper again,

Tatum

When you hear the word ‘football,’ you’re probably not envisioning a fourteen-year-old girl who wears sweatshirts and spends all of her time writing novels or, you guessed it, watching NFL. The Write Zone is a place where you can catch up on football news or read some bits of my unpublished novels, and maybe The Write Zone will change the way you view both writing and football.
