I’m now going to try and be faithful to the ‘weekly’ part of weekly writing prompt. Now that the holidays are over, it should be a lot easier. And I’ll be ending a prompt myself once a month, but the one I choose will always change, so its best to subscribe so you can be notified when I do. Have fun with this one! 🙂
I groaned, every bone in my body aching from the uncomfortable position I had been sleeping in. I hated when that happened. I placed a hand on my sweaty forehead, using my other to prop myself up. Glancing at the alarm clock on my desk, I saw that it was 6:17 in the morning. Lovely. I kicked my blankets off and walked across my small bedroom to the window, shoving aside the curtains to let some air into the room.
“What the…”
Outside was a tree. Actually, I take that back. There were multiple trees in the middle of a neighborhood… in Kansas. Kansas and pine trees don’t really mix.
“Jackie!” A voice called from outside my bedroom.
I ran out of my door, and nearly crashed into my mom. “Mom! There are trees outside!”
“I know, I know. They’re circling the entire neighborhood. And several people have gone in there only to come out screaming several seconds later.”
I shook my head. “What do we do then?”
My mom looked over my shoulder at my still uncovered window. “I don’t know. But one thing is for sure- we’re trapped.”
My throat tightened. This couldn’t be good…..
Hope you enjoyed that one and come up with a good ending to it! Happy Thursday!
Till my pen meets the paper again,
Tatum
