Hey guys! It is a lovely day and the perfect time to dive into this week’s writing prompt! Keep in mind I’m ending a random one of the prompts myself every month, so subscribe if you want to be able to get notified when that happens. Here’s you weekly dose of writing 🙂
“Come on, Jesse,” Matt said, shoving his hands in his pockets as he walked up the front steps of the mansion. “It’s just an old house.”
I felt that was an understatement. It was a three story mansion that had been standing in the middle of the woods so long it literally had vines snaking up the walls outside. The windows were shattered and one of the grand double doors was coming off of its hinges.
“This feels like something out of a novel,” I muttered, but hurried up the cracking steps after Matt. Together, we were able to pull one of the doors open, and a gust of cold air hit us in the face.
“Sheesh, its chilly in there,” Matt said, but none the less walked inside of the mansion. I followed carefully into an entry room that had ragged cloth draped over all of the furniture.
“Jesse,” Matt whined, “stop being afraid and start exploring!”
I shrugged, walking around the entry room and examining an oddly shaped item covered by the cloth. It was tucked into a corner, and was about as tall as my waist. I grabbed the edge of the sheet, and pulled it off, jumping when I saw what was underneath.
“What?” Matt asked, running over. He looked down at what I had just uncovered. “Chill out, its just a statue.”
I was about to explain that I had a feeling that it was more than that when I heard a sound from the other room. It sounded like stiletto heels clicking across tile. And they were getting closer…..
I hope you enjoyed that one and have fun finishing it!
Till my pen meets the paper again,
Tatum
