This is a new edition to my blog. Let me explain something- making a detailed Writing Prompt every week was too much, considering I’m editing a novel and juggling high school right now. So I was in bed and reading a giant book of football trivia- cause I’m a football fanatic and do that- and I realized that there were so many facts that I didn’t know in there. So I figured, “Hey, why don’t I find my favorite one from each night, and write a short post about it to share it?” Well, that’s what I’m doing. Every day there will be a fact on here come morning. And to kick it off, here’s the first one!
CJ Stroud and Brett Favre. Stroud isn’t an MVP, or a Hall of Famer like Favre. So why do I have both of them here? Because they have one slightly ridiculous thing in common; their first completions were to themselves!
Yes, you heard me correctly. Brett Favre was best known for his 16-season tenure with the Green Bay Packers, where he won three consecutive MVPs and Super Bowl XXXI. Renowned for his toughness and a record 297 consecutive regular-season starts, he retired as the all-time leader in passing yards, touchdowns, and wins. But what people rarely talk about is that his first completion in the NFL- on September 13, 1992- the ball bounced off a Buccaneers helmet, and landed right back in Favre’s hands. He unfortunately lost 7 yards on the play.
C.J. Stroud has thrown for 10,876 yards, 62 touchdowns, and 25 interceptions over his three years in the NFL. As of February 2026, he has a career record of 28–18 as a starter and a career passer rating of 93.5. He had quite the rookie year, though, and certainly put his name out there by having a similar first completion that Favre did. On September 10th, 2023, his first pass attempt was batted down at the line of scrimmage, and he managed to catch the ball and run for a one yard gain.
There’s your fact for today!
See you at the next snap,
Tatum
